30 years ago, the Amazonas brand was born deep in the jungles of Ecuador when our founder, Matthias Saul, collaborated with Huaorani Indian tribe guides to construct his first hammock. Although the hammock was heavy, weighing approximately 7kg/15.4lb and not offering protection from rain or mosquitoes, it sparked Matthias's outdoor spirit and inspired him to create camping gear that was lightweight, multi-functional, and effortless to set up.
